Kiss the Cook!

Today I designed a character for work/fun. All I was given to work with was a voice recording. In a nutshell, he's a Parisian chef who's not very good in the kitchen. Here's some sketches that I did this afternoon.

Global Warming is HOT

In case you've been snoozing, the hot topic these days is global warming. I'm working on a PSA for this year's Animation Block Party. They will be premiering a series of PSAs at this summer's big animation festival in NYC, and hopefully it will make the cut. I have storyboarded the spot and started designing backgrounds and characters. I will be working with my good friend Evan Sussman (After Effects wiz) to create the final spot. Stay tuned as I post thoughout the process. Here's a background test...

Busy doing other things...

I have been trying to write more often, but it’s hard to find the time. Between work, life, and drawing, it leaves little time to sit down and write. I have been forcing myself to do so, even if it takes time away from doodling. I recently picked up Stephen King’s On Writing (2nd time around), and I recommend it to anyone who seeks inspiration. In some ways the book is a fantastic blend of memoir and instructional manual. In other ways, he makes you feel that writing a decent novel is a divine act. I took a lot of what he said with a grain of salt. Then I took the plunge and started writing. During the last few weeks, I have been working on my first children’s chapter book. I hope to use simple illustrations throughout the book to help spark the imaginations of children. My writing informs my art and my drawings inform my writing. They go hand in hand.
